Magnetic Source Imaging
A comparison of magnetic source imaging brain maps from a poor reader (top set of images) and proficient reader (lower set of images) during word reading tasks. There is a clear preponderance of activity in the left temporoparietal cortices in the proficient child. In the poor reader, the same area in the right hemisphere are activated (and with the same temporal course). However, there much less activation of the left hemisphere.
